WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY HIDES in EUROPE
A Directory of Hides and Operators
Nature photography has become tremendously popular in Europe in the course of the last decades. Today, there are tens of thousands – if not hundreds of thousands – enthusiastic and passionate nature photographers who devote an important part of their free time to peacefully shooting pictures of the most iconic – and many other – wildlife species.
Photographing the large and spectacular wildlife in the vast open landscapes of Eastern Africa – and a few other privileged regions in the world – can often appear as astonishingly easy compared to catching on pictures elusive animals in the usually closed forest habitats typical for Europe. Nature and wildlife photographers – be they amateurs or professionals – will in a way or another do the necessary in order to purchase the kinds of equipment they need, and they will travel to places where they can meet the creatures of their (photography) dreams. Yet, what most of them lack in common is… time!
This is where photography hides can come to the rescue. When hiring a hide, photographers are saved the lengthy process of habituating to their presence the animals and/or birds targeted: a process that can, in some cases, take months or even years to complete. And they can be almost guaranteed that they will not leave the place empty-handed (in other words, without having had the opportunity of shooting good images), even at the end of a very short stay only. It is therefore no wonder that the number of wildlife photography hides has been steadily on the increase, all over Europe…
The ‘Directory of Wildlife Photography Hides in Europe’ is the first comprehensive compilation of all the facilities currently available on the continent: it includes a description of the hides, an introduction to the operators, details about the species concerned, notes concerning the areas, as well as useful technical and practical information. Most of the information provided in the pages of the report is actually available on the web: but, according to the same principle as with photography hides, photographers interested in knowing more about the current hide offer available everywhere in Europe will be saved a lot of efforts – and hundreds of hours of strenuous research – just by traveling through the pages of the report… The Directory is completed with a comprehensive introduction to hide photography, as well as several reference lists and useful contact addresses. The second edition of the Directory has been completely updated, with an impressive number of new entries.
Data about the second, updated edition of the Directory:
– 356 pages (A4-size)
– 800 photography hides described, for
– 123 operators in
– 23 countries of Europe
The ‘Directory of Wildlife Photography Hides in Europe’ is a real ‘must’ for all nature and wildlife photographers willing to learn everything about wildlife photography hides, and discover the wide offer currently availabhle in the four corners of the continent.
